The 5th International Sand Sculptures Festival (FIESA 2007) start from June
7th, exhibiting thirty five thousand tons of sand, sculpted in scenes and
symbols of the universal mythology.
The festival is located in the area of Pêra, Algarve and it exhibits
an integrated group of sculptures made out of sand with huge dimensions, all in an area
about 15.000 m2.
This year the theme for the event is 'The Wonders of the World' and will
feature some spectacular sculptures.
FIESA, organized by Prosandart, is the only festival of its kind
in the Iberian Peninsula and, for the amount of sand used, is the largest
exhibition of sand sculptures in the world. In the four previous editions
the festival was visited by about 250,000 people.
There will be a place for sand sculpture activities
for the general public, where the children and the adults can show off
their creative capacity and learn the basic technics of this way of artistic
expression.
FIESA can be visited everyday, between 10.00 and 24.00. During the day
the sculptures can be admired with all their detail. The night brings
a different atmosphere to the park of sculptures, which are illuminated
by color lights, and special effects.
